Programming Intern with MN Power, Duluth, MN

General Purpose:
Under supervision, provide technical analysis, programming, and support to
users to include design, development, modification, problem resolution,
documentation, and short-term planning to meet business objectives. Design
and implement relational database structures, applications, interfaces, and
reports to achieve business requirements.

Education:
Applicant should be nearing completion of sophomore year of Bachelor's Degree
Program.  Major in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Management of
Information Systems & Technology.  Accounting coursework, electrical
engineering coursework, and/or XML/Web Services coursework is desirable.
Minimum GPA 2.8.

Experience: Related work experience desirable.

Special Requirements:
Familiarity with several of the following: Java, C/C++, Web Page Development
(HTML, ASP, JSP, Java Script), Structured Query Language (SQL), PL/SQL,
Visual Basic, .NET, Object Oriented Programming, Relational Database
Modeling, XML/XSLT, Unix Shell Scripting, Unix (Solaris), Microsoft Windows
2000/XP, and Microsoft Office.  Strong interpersonal and communication skills
required to establish and maintain positive working relationships.  Applicant
must be flexible to handle multiple changing priorities.  Able to work
independently or as part of a group.

Internship Duration:
Full-time hours during the summer of 2007 with potential for part-time during
the school year (hours flexible with school schedule).

Salary: $13.50 per hour

Job Location:
Two positions are located at the ALLETE General Office Building, Duluth, MN,
and the other at the ROWE Energy Control Center, Duluth, MN.
